May 16--Despite a court case that dragged on through most of last year -- resulting in close to $14 million in awards and settlements, about $1 million in legal fees, $200,000 in costs and 35,000 pages of transcripts -- the saga of El Escorial may be far from over.

The complicated civil dispute about alleged shoddy workmanship at a 261-unit condominium complex close to Santa Barbara's East Beach is now heading for the 2nd District Court of Appeals in Ventura.
