Internment services were held May 18 at Arlington National Cemetery for retired Navy Lt. Cmdr. William E. Viverette, who died at his Alexandria home on March 24. He was 87.
Born in Rocky Mount, N.C., he had lived in Alexandria since 1956. He graduated in 1939 from North Carolina State University with a degree in engineering. He also earned a master's degree in thermodynamics.
In addition to being chief executive officer of Viverette Contracting Co., Cmdr. Viverette served for 30 years in the Navy and Navy Reserve and in civil service as a chief of Naval Facilities Engineering Command.
