CHICAGO, May 20 /PRNewswire/ -- An appreciation luncheon will be held in honor of Illinois State Rep. Constance A. "Connie" Howard (34th Dist.) in recognition of her longtime dedication to education, and her sponsorship of a scholarship program in her name, which since 2001 has awarded $2,500 in academic scholarships to some 28 undergraduate recipients.
Funding for the scholarships has been provided by the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. All scholarship recipients underwent a rigorous screening process which included personal interviews by the Chicago Urban League Scholarship Advisory Committee.
