Not all of the studies and restructuring moves have been completed, but Sun Refining & Marketing Co. seems to be well on the way to doing what Arco and others have done before it; i.e., retreat from the national arena and regroup as a tougher, more resilient regional oil company.
First off, Sun Refining and Marketing Co. is a thing of the past. It's Sun Co. now, the corporate name it used to use all the time for all of its activities, including exploration, production and marketing as well as shipbuilding, coal mining and so on.
