2004 MAY 28 - (NewsRx.com & NewsRx.net) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) acknowledged on May 7, 2004, that it issued a "Not Approvable" letter to the sponsor of an application to make the Plan B emergency contraception product available without a prescription.
In its letter to the sponsor, Barr Research, the FDA outlined the additional information that would be required to gain approval to market Plan B over-the-counter (OTC).
FDA said it based its action primarily on the lack of data concerning OTC use of the product among adolescents under age 16. Barr Research's application contained no data on subjects under age 14 and very limited ...
