1833: Brothers Ralph, Anson, and Morgan Babcock claim land including present-day Main Street and Geneva and St. Charles roads. They arrived in a wooded area that marks the present-day Five Corners intersection of St. Charles Road, Main Street in Glen Ellyn and Geneva Road. It was first called Babcock's Grove.
1834: Deacon Winslow Churchill and family, regarded as the first permanent settlers, arrive from New York.
1840: First wedding held April 27 between Gilbert Way and Harriet Fish.
1846: Moses Stacy built Stacy's Tavern, where travelers would stay overnight for 50 cents.
