The Coast Guard Auxiliary's message Thursday was simple: When you go out on the water, we want you to come back safe.
A small media gathering Thursday at the North Area YMCA on Wetzel Road was designed to heighten awareness of National Safe Boating Week, Saturday through May 28.
"This is a little something we call "Operation Flotation,"' said John Stockwell, a Coast Guard staff officer involved with public affairs. "It focuses on using life jackets. They float, you don't."
