The California Institute of Technology's Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL) and various industry partners are working on designs for lunar robotic missions that could become part of Associate Administrator for Exploration Mike Griffin's precursor program for the Space Exploration Initiative (SEI), according to the manager of the program development support office at JPL.
Phil Barnett said JPL and 10 to 12 industry partners are conducting phase A conceptual design studies for three highly focused science missions under the rubric of the NASA Office of Space Science and Applications' (OSSA) Lunar Scout program.
