Sure, the graphics are great. Big and bold as can be, these 60- and 70-year-old patterns are easily as modish as any tropicals at the last Indigo or Direction or Printsource. They're paradise printed on rayon.
"But that's not the only reason we did this," the American Textile History Museum's Director of Interpretation, Diane Fagan Affleck, says apropos of the "Let's Go Hawaiian!" exhibition of more than 150 vintage aloha shirts. "This was just plain fun. The Hawaiian shirt is a symbol of kicking back and casual enjoyment, and our mission is telling America's story through the art and history of its textiles."
