May 23--From Bert Holmes' point of view, higher interest rates can't come soon enough.
"We're waiting with bated breath for interest rates to go back up to some reasonable level," the Dallas retiree said. "I've got a five-year jumbo CD that is maturing."
From Paula Merrell's point of view, higher interest rates couldn't come at a worse time. She and her husband, Franson Nwaeze, were planning to expand their Watauga restaurant this year and, Merrell said, "If interest rates go up, then it's going to cost me more to expand."
