WASHINGTON -- Following Monday's far-reaching North American asset deal with Apache, Exxon Mobil may have found a better way to rationalize its portfolio, essentially transferring control of mature oil and natural gas fields to the US independent while retaining interests that allow it to reap the benefits of high oil and gas prices.
The agreement between Houston-based Apache and Irving, Texas- based Exxon Mobil provides for transfers and joint venture activity across a broad range of prospective and mature properties in West Texas, Western Canada, onshore Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico shelf.
