May 25--FORT WORTH, Texas -- Devon Energy Corp. plans to drill 10 to 15 natural-gas wells a year in the Barnett Shale formation in Johnson County, south of Fort Worth, for the foreseeable future, a Devon executive said Monday.
"The Barnett Shale is a major play and has a bright future, but it is not a simple formation, and we need to be very careful," said Brad Foster, Devon's manager for the North Texas Barnett Shale play. Foster briefed the Harvard Business School Club of Fort Worth on Devon's strategy at a luncheon meeting Monday at the City Club of Fort Worth.
