Tommy Anderson will not be in Washington, D.C., this weekend for the dedication of the National World War II Memorial. The 79-year-old Dent man, though, is one of the reasons -- one of millions, he'd be the first to say -- it's been built.
A compelling symbol of what NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw has evocatively dubbed "The Greatest Generation," Anderson is a World War II hero who thinks of himself as anything but.
"I didn't do anything a bunch of other guys didn't do, too," Anderson said. "There's no reason to make a fuss over me."
The limp left sleeve on Anderson's sports coat, however, ...
