By the time this issue of Canadian Dimension goes to the press, the Alberta Court of Appeal will likely have decided the fate of Milton Born With A Tooth, a young leader of the Lonefighters, an ancient society of the Peigan Nation.
The events that led to Born With a Tooth's arrest began September 7, 1990 when 80 to 90 heavily armed RCMP moved onto Peigan Nation lands, a provincial injunction in hand. Members of the Peigan nation were diverting the Oldman River back into the original channel in a desperate effort to stop construction of a dam being built above their land.
