The Lake Express high-speed ferry is set to launch June 1, re- establishing the historic water route between Milwaukee, Wis., and Muskegon, Mich., across Lake Michigan.
This is the first high-speed auto/passenger ferry to go into service between ports within the continental United Stated. Unlike other Lake Michigan ferries, the Lake Express will zip passengers and vehicles at more than 34 knots (or 40 miles per hour) on a catamaran with four diesel-powered water jets. That links the ports of Muskegon and Milwaukee with a 2 1/2-hour voyage.
