CONCORD, Calif. - De La Salle is a private Catholic school founded by the Christian Brothers in 1965. Located in an upscale East Bay neighborhood, the campus is a series of two-story brick buildings that wouldn't look out of place at the University of Oregon.
Varsity football wasn't played there until 1972, and the Spartans didn't enjoy a winning season for their first seven years.
That all changed when Bob Ladouceur took over as head coach in 1979 and led De La Salle to a 6-3 record. In the 25 years since he took over, the Spartans are 288-14-1. They have won 151 straight games, more than twice as many as the previous ...
