CPRE has published a briefing on the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Bill which is currently before Parliament. It believes that the present measures contained in the Bill "threaten to make our town and country planning system weaker, less accountable and more complicated". It wants to see Regional Spatial Strategies becoming the overarching framework for other strategies that operate at a regional level, as it is concerned that regional economic strategies are likely to undermine other objectives.
CPRE also believes that there should be a mandatory, rather than discretionary, public examination of the first draft of all Regional Spatial Strategies. It is ...
