Proper handling of anger in the workplace can not only avoid bigger problems, such as violence or disruption of the work day, but also make an organization run more smoothly.

That was one of the points made at a panel discussion on anger in the workplace on April 28 at the Dolan School of Business at Fairfield University. About 30 people attended the event.

"Anger is an energizing emotion--anger can get things done," said Donald E. Gibson, associate professor of management at the business school and executive director of the International Association of Conflict Management. "Anger is a strong signal that something's wrong."
