World War II veterans are notoriously modest when it comes to recognizing their sacrifices. With at least 1,100 dying each day, former bomber pilot Lyle Pearson thinks it would be fitting now to build something that tells what happened and the price that was paid.
But Minnesota's memorial to its World War II service men and women may wind up being another casualty of the turbulent 2004 legislative session.
The $1.15 million granite and glass memorial won approval in both houses for $500,000, the last funding piece needed to begin construction. There was talk of a groundbreaking later this year, perhaps ...
