ARRT is in the process of developing a radiologist assistant (RA) certification program as described in the September/October 2003 issue of Radiologic Technology. The program is scheduled to be available in fall 2005. Many project steps that would normally occur sequentially are proceeding in parallel to meet that deadline.
The RA concept was developed by national professional organizations through a process facilitated by ASRT. These organizations conceived the RA role as falling between the traditional roles of the radiographer and the radiologist.
