On Friday March 5, photographer Peter Maiden and I hosted a DLB fiesta at La Peña Cultural Center in Berkeley for the 10th Anniversary Commemorative Calendar we published this year. It was a gas and featured the music of Louie Romero & Mazacote.
We began the evening with a panel discussion of "The State of Musicians Playing Latin Music in the SF Bay Area." The panelists were Orestes Vilató (John Santos & Machete), Louie Romero (Mazacote), Karl Perazzo (Avance/Santana), Manny MartÃnez (Los Mocosos), Armando Cordoba (Avance), Eric Rangel (Orq. America), and Julia Sewell (SalsaSF.com).
