The 400m [pounds sterling] UK baby food industry is facing annihilation If the Government bows to pressure to introduce laws banning manufacturers from marketing or promoting products.

MP Lynne Jones is calling for tougher action from the Government against baby food manufacturers that violate the World Health Assembly code on the marketing of breast milk substitutes. She is tabling an Early Day Motion and will host a meeting with International Baby Food Action Network, which has monitored global violations of the code, at a meeting on May 13. A report, Breaking the Rules, Stretching the Rules, will also be launched.
