Despite the announcement last week by the Army that the weight estimation for the Longbow fire and forget" radar system for its Comanche helicopter has swelled from 322 pounds to 540 pounds, and information obtained by Defense Daily that the Longbow system used for the Apache attack helicopter actually weighs 640 pounds, service officials remain confident the 540 pound Comanche goal is attainable.
"We have every reason to believe that we can meet the 540 pound requirement for Longbow on Comanche," said an Army spokesman.
