Hewlett-Packard Co. has acquired a 10 percent interest in Rancho Bernardo-based Four Pi Systems Corp., according to the president of Four Pi.

The Hewlett-Packard investment is part of a $4.1 million equity financing that also includes existing venture capital investors Fairfield Ventures, Paragon Partners, Columbine Venture Fund, 3i Ventures, Union Ventures and Weiss, Peck & Greer, said Bruce Baker, president and chief executive officer of Four Pi.

The Hewlett-Packard decision validates Four Pi's product technology, Baker said.
