From the combined talents of revered Scottish poet Robert Burns and present day English performers Eddi Reader and Colin Reid comes this slow, haunting reading of the familiar "Ye Jacobites. " The Jacobites were a political force determined to regain control of the English crown for the Stuart dynasty (deposed from the throne in 1688 due to the unpopularity caused by James VII's fervent Catholicism). The Jacobite Rebellion strongly supported by the French, was eventually quelled by a devastating military defeat in 1745. The Jacobites retained a political presence, but no real military might.
