Jun. 4--Illegal immigration costs Arizonans $1.3 billion a year, nearly 20 times more than it did just a decade ago, according to a report by an immigration reform group.

A major factor in the growing cost of illegal immigration to the state, according to the study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform, is the rise in that population, growing from 60,000 people in 1994 to 425,000 now, based on U.S. Census data and estimates from Immigration and Naturalization Service.
