LABOUR'S war of succession exploded into life again yesterday after Tony Blair's closest aide was said to have insisted Gordon Brown would never be Prime Minister.
Jonathan Powell - who has been Mr Blair's chief-ofstaff for seven years - said the Chancellor was like a Shakespearean character who never becomes king.
In a highly provocative intervention, he said Mr Brown could never be Premier because he was Scottish.
And he insisted that Mr Blair - who was born in Scotland but has played down his Celtic roots - would carry on to fight not just the next General Election, expected next year, but the one after that as ...
