Carroll County Community Now Finds Visitors Coming For Thanksgiving And Christmas, Too

There was a time -- not so very long ago -- when a dog could sleep in the middle of a Eureka Springs street in the winter and not be in danger.

Bob Purvis, executive director of the Eureka Springs Chamber of Commerce, remembers those days. He came to Carroll County in October 1978.

"Nobody opened before the first of May," Purvis says. "Nobody."

Now, almost all Eureka Springs businesses are open by early April.

And a majority of them are open by the first weekend in March.
