OPEI has developed an econometric forecasting model for the following handheld products: handheld blowers, backpack blowers, trimmers and chain saws (see table on page 8). The projections are annual shipments, aggregated into calendar years.
Revised in March 2004, the OPEI Econometric Forecast for Handheld Products indicated that improvements in the national economy and consumer sentiment made a positive impact on shipments of most products. Climbing from 2002 to 2003 were chain saws by 15.4 percent, trimmers by 13.2 percent, backpack blowers by 10.5 percent and handheld blowers by 5.5 percent.
