May 31--Sentient Jet owns no planes and has no pilots; there are no mechanics or flight attendants on its staff.
Still, the Norwell-based company has staked its future on flying people where they want to go: on demand and in the size of plane they specify. In that regard, Sentient is not alone.
In fact, the company is among a cadre of firms capitalizing on high-end travelers' growing disdain for commercial airlines by offering access to private jets without requiring the purchase of a fractional share of an aircraft.
