May 29--The Tennessee Valley Authority, revered by many in the 20th century for helping light up rural Appalachia, was blasted Friday by some Bradley County homeowners opposed to a 21st century plan to improve electric service in the region.
"We won't have to have a yard light anymore if TVA goes ahead with their plans for a new substation," said Erma Carr, a Tunnel Road homeowner who lives across the road from TVA's preferred site for the new transmission facility. "I'm afraid this is going to be an eyesore and create a terrorist target for our area."
