POINT CLEAR, Ala. -- Pros and cons of outsourcing, mounting problems with shipping and the steamroller threat of China on the U.S. hosiery industry were hot topics at the annual meeting and convention of the Hosiery Association here last month.
Overall, there was concern for the industry's future and finding ways to ensure the U.S. hosiery industry will remain viable. Quotas on cotton hosiery end on Dec. 31, and many hosiery leaders fear that China, often labeled as the supplier of choice, will be favored, as will India, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
