Jun. 8--The availability of 95 octane petrol will be totally phased out within three years under an agreement to promote the use of ethanol-blended gasohol, government and industry leaders have agreed.
The decision to phase out the high-octane petrol by 2006 was reached by the Federation of Thai Industries and the Energy Ministry yesterday.
Gasohol, a mixture of 10 percent ethanol and 90 percent regular petrol, would be promoted as a cheaper, more environmentally friendly alternative, said FTI vice-chairman Ninnart Chaithirapinyo, who is also vice-chairman ...
