According to the company Altomayo, the Peruvian coffee market will maintain this year the same volume of sales posted in 2003, when there were sold about 2,000 m tons of instant coffee and between 8,000 and 10,000 m tons of roasted and ground coffee. The domestic coffee market is estimated at US$20mil, with instant coffee accounting for 70% (US$14mil) and roasted coffee for 30% (US$6mil). Although Peru is an important coffee producer, the per capita consumption in the domestic market does not surpass 300g, one of the lowest levels in the world, if considering that in Colombia the consumption is of 2 kg per inhabitant, ...
