The history of rubber-from its early use in ancient Mexico to the development of high-tech polymers and the search for alternative sources of natural latex-is the subject of an upcoming cable television broadcast.
Researchers for Actuality Productions, which produces "Modern Marvels" and other programs for the History Channel, originally pitched the idea of a history of the rubber industry as a four-hour miniseries, according to Jeffrey Willerth, who produced the rubber episode.
