A new federal initiative will give incentives to malls and shopping centers to increase recycling and energy conservation while possibly educating a few shoppers along the way.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the International Council of Shopping Centers unveiled the "America's Marketplace Recycles'' partnership May 24 at the council's spring conference in Las Vegas.
The program will target corrugated containers, wood pallets, plastic packaging, paper, food court waste, yard debris and other waste streams generated by malls and shopping centers, said EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt. The program will focus on ...
