A LORRY driver almost caused a pileup as he tackled rush hour on the M1 with a Western playing on a TV in his cab.

Spaniard Manuel Cuenca, 50, drove through the earlyevening traffic with a portable television flickering next to him, a court heard yesterday.

The TV was showing a dubbed version of the Errol Flynn classic They Died With Their Boots On when Cuenca overtook another lorry and ran it off the road.

Driver Brian Jackson had just looked into Cuenca's passing cab when the Spaniard suddenly cut in front of him.

Mr Jackson had to veer on to the hard shoulder near junction 23a at Kegworth, Leicestershire, to avoid a crash.
