Jun. 8--Water officials cut service to 100 businesses and a dozen homeowners caught watering outdoors Monday morning in an effort to conserve the region's water while a major pipeline is closed for repairs for the next week.
Workers in Webb Canyon north of Claremont shut down the pipeline Monday that carries Northern California water to the Inland Valley, beginning a week's worth of emergency repairs and triggering a water shortage in nine local cities.
Conservation efforts are mandatory for the next seven days while the repair work continues.
