Pac-10 Conference champion. NCAA West Regional champion. Oregon record-holder.
Eric Mitchum knows how to clear a high hurdle. Quickly.
"I surprised myself," the UO sophomore said.
But not his coach.
"Eric is an extraordinary athlete who did not have a lot of experience hurdling," said Dan Steele, the Duck assistant track and field coach for sprints, hurdles and relays.
"He was still pretty raw starting his sophomore year but it's really something when you see young athletes realize for the first time how good they can be, when their performances exceed their own expectations."
