SAN JOSE, Calif. _ World-record holder Tim Montgomery and three other Olympians received letters Tuesday from the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency citing drug violations that could prevent them from competing in this summer's Olympics in Greece.
In groundbreaking action, the anti-doping agency took a first step in using evidence from the Balco Laboratories criminal case against Montgomery, the 100-meter-record holder, former Stanford sprinter Chryste Gaines, sprinter Michelle Collins and 400-meter runner Alvin Harrison of Salinas.
What makes the cases extraordinary is that none of the athletes failed a drug test. ...
