LAS VEGAS -- These are not your beige boxes.
Computer makers this week are unveiling new PCs with capabilities that tie into elements of Microsoft Corp.'s Windows Vista operating system. Machines on display at the International Consumer Electronics Show use Vista's built-in support for features such as touch-sensitive screens, secondary displays and media browsing.
The PCs are part of an effort to boost computer sales along with Windows Vista's retail launch later this month - a task made tougher when development delays forced Microsoft to push the release beyond the recent holiday shopping season.
