ST. LOUIS -- Brown Shoe Co.'s focus on fashion is paying dividends.
The multi-brand company, which last month declared a dividend of 10 cents per share, said it plans to build on its fashion-oriented strategy going forward.
Speaking at the firm's annual meeting here on May 27, Chairman and CEO Ron Fromm credited the renovation of nearly half of Famous Footwear's 900 units for attracting more fashion-savvy shoppers and boosting sales 4.2 percent in the first quarter, following a slight decline to $1.07 billion in 2003.
