Jun. 8--SOMERSET, Pa. -- As planners prepare for an estimated quarter million visitors a year to Flight 93 National Memorial, they only have to look at Route 601 near the turnpike interchange to see what not to do.
The three-lane highway is a congested nightmare of traffic, restaurants, motels, shops and strip malls.
Now, in an effort to manage expected development near the memorial, officials are turning once again to a nationally known planner and rural community designers to preach the importance of preparation.
