BOSTON - This column wasn't my idea; it was an editor's.
I'd like to write about the hotel where I'm staying, a pie-shaped, century-old brick building with dark, winding hallways; guests who remind me of the cast of a murder mystery weekend; and a free continental breakfast in an adjacent Japanese sushi/karaoke bar.
Instead, I'm writing about what it was like to be interviewed for `Good Morning America,' which plans Thursday to air a segment on a book I've written, `American Nightingale.'
Book promotion is a crapshoot. You try for months, unsuccessfully, to land a signing gig at some backwoods ...
