During summer 2003, Bravo's new reality series Queer Eye for the Straight Guy became a breakout hit and one of the most talked-about television programs of the year. This latest take on the makeover format features five gay men who swoop into the life of a heterosexual man in distress as he approaches some important crossroads in his life and recognizes the need to acquire style--fast! The goal is not to turn the unkempt straight guy gay but rather to infuse him with wisdom about culinary, fashion, grooming, decorating, and cultural matters that gay men in U.S. society are presumed, stereotypically, to inherently possess.
