The city is looking for dumping sites for thousands of tons of material that will be dredged from the bottoms of the eastern and western branches of the Lynnhaven River in the next decade.
It also is looking for potential "transfer sites" in undeveloped areas, where dredging spoils can be collected and transferred by trucks or barges to outlying dumping sites, Dean Block, Public Works director, told City Council members on June 1.
"Spoil sites for the eastern and western branches are a problem for the next 10 years," he said.
