Jun. 11--Major Cineplex Group Plc and EGV Entertainment Plc, the country's two largest cinema operators, are merging in order to further consolidate their market share and strengthen their operations for future expansion both in Thailand and abroad.
Major, which has engaged in fierce competition with EGV even though each company is run by a different branch of the Poolworaluk family, will issue 120 million new shares in order to buy EGV's 260 million shares. Each new share will be swapped for 2.27 EGV shares and 11.44 units of EGV warrants.
