The fourth meeting of the Therapeutic Products Interim Ministerial Council between New Zealand Health Minister Annette King and Australia's Parliamentary Secretary for Health, Trish Worth, has backed the setting-up of a new joint expert committee to consider, recommend and implement standards for medicines labeling to be applied by the joint agency that will replace Australia's Therapeutic Goods Administration and New Zealand's Medsafe.
The Ministers agreed that this is a positive step which will have benefits for both consumers and for the pharmaceutical industry.
