Jun. 13--Tallahassee hotels are about to get a much-needed boost this month -- the Sunshine State Games are coming to town.
"It definitely impacts the hotel industry," said John Citron, executive director of the Tallahassee Sports Council. "We're looking at about 6,000 participants, of which 25 to 30 percent are local."
Citron estimates those participant numbers could lead to between 9,000 and 10,000 visitors and a retail impact on the area of $1.2million. The event as a whole is estimated to have an impact of $2.5million.
"In June, this a good shot in the arm for us," Citron said.
