Jun. 15--LOWELL, Mass. -- School's out for summer. New England's out of jobs. Kids are out of money, and they may be out of luck.
Adolescents seem to have suffered the biggest blow from the sagging economy this year. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 34.7 percent of teenagers were employed last summer. Economists project that this year, the employment rate will be even lower, potentially plummeting to its lowest level since the end of World War II.
